Everybody wants to be a part of something, to fit in and belong, and a likely place for this to happen is in a church youth group. Unfortunately, many youth groups are notoriously un-cool. Wouldn’t it be great if a place actually existed that both parents and teenagers could agree on as a worthwhile place to hang out and spend time with friends? Well, Uprising at Seminole Church might just be that place. Some parents may object to the loudness of the music or even the rowdiness of the crowd, but that’s how we know that we’ve got it right! If a youth group isn’t just a little bit edgy, then it’s definitely not gonna be a fit for high school students. Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, weekly during the school year and bi-weekly in the summer (see church calendar for dates), high schoolers from all over Central Florida meet on the Seminole Church campus for a rally-like get-together with a live band, multi-media presentations, and relevant speakers to challenge and motivate the students. And no gathering of teens would be complete without food! And games! And beyond the fun, social stuff that makes Uprising an attractive place to hang out and even invite friends, there is clear direction for exploring personal spirituality and guidance for a deeper connection with God. Through meaningful discussions and challenging dialogue, students are encouraged to prioritize their relationship with Christ, be an influence in their friends’ lives, and eventually realize the potential for fulfillment in living a life for Christ. Be sure to check the church calendar for additional youth-related activities and summertime outings. |
